Updated Monday, November 14th.
Well I’ve picked out all my lovely Christmas sweaters to take back, started tuning up the gorgeous Vince Guraldi peanuts Christmas songs on the piano, and have allowed myself to consider making my Christmas playlist. Which means it’s time to put together that lovely list of things I want!
Their order does not necessarily indicate preference. Photos, prices, details, links, and my own lovely description for your convenience.
AIRLINE MILES

“If I had that many miles, I’d just show up at the airport, look up at one of those big destination boards, pick a place and go.”
If you don’t know by now, it’s time to fill you in. I want to be Ryan Bingham. In the first ten minutes of the movie when there were no obstacles and he was happy with his life. The good part. I want to fly everywhere and get access to those clubs and have shiny elite cards. But to do that, I need miles to get miles. It’s very complicated.
CASH
The alternative to this, of course, is good solid cash. See, at least on AirTran (which is what I’m going with for now because while they’re merging with Southwest, southwest still doesn’t fly out of Reagan and that’s pretty important) each credit costs $39. Free trips cost 8 credits, and 8 x 39 ($312) is usually a lot more than the flights I plan on taking. I used to fly Frontier a lot and I still have a lot of affection for the company (even though I think they’ve done away with the Midwest signature cookies which bums me out) so I’m going to look into their rewards program. Point is, cash is always, always appreciated.
NEW! COMMUNITY
Yes, this beats out J. Crew. Because the NBC store is amazing and has created mementos from the greatest Christmas special of all time: Abed’s Uncontrollable Christmas. In the (EMMY WINNING!) episode, Abed sees the world in stop motion and imagines his friends as Christmas versions of themselves in his personal winter wonderland. Right now there are only 6 of the 9 characters available and I’ll update as soon as the last three are here, because so help me, I need them. (Sadly, I doubt we’ll have a remote control Christmas pterodactyl available.) My final pitches: remember the Breyer horse days? Let’s sink into that Christmas whimsy. Oh and it’s a hell of a lot cheaper than that set visit.

John Oliver/Professor Duncan is now a magic Christmas wizard (yet to turn into an Evil Christmas Warlock). Pierce has become Teddy Pierce, which is undoubtedly the fan favorite. But I don’t know how anyone can resist Britta Bot, the girl who’s programmed badly (or is simply progressive and kick ass).

J.CREW
And now, a quick word: I’m doing this at the start of November, which means winter stuff hasn’t come out yet. This means this section will undoubtedly have some additions.
Café Capris in Wool
Bright cropped pants! Yes please! They’re good for work and good for play, that’s for sure. I’d like to thank you lovely gift giving people for providing me with a very well stocked work closet over these past few years, and now I’ve got enough suits and pencil skirts that I can start looking at more casual wears. But it’s always a bonus when the fun stuff also works for work, so let’s give that buck some bang.
Petite 2 / Sweet Tangerine + Light Dalia / $118 / Here
Café Capri in Wool Plaid
There is very little that I have had more success with than skinny cropped pants made out of the patterns of old man shirts. Seriously, people are obsessed with them. They’re so much fun, you can wear flats and heels, and, ugh, just look at them.
2 / Black / $138 / Here
Petite Classic Mini in Felted Wool
Oh mini skirts. You want to know what I’d wear every day in fall, winter, and spring if I could? Riding Boots + Sweater + Coat + Tights + MINI SKIRT. J. Crew’s the master at them and it shows. I’m slowly but surely expanding my collection to include all colors of the rainbow (very necessary) because I used to have only khaki (thanks USM). I’ve been craving bright colors for a while now, and J. Crew provides!
Petite 2 / Decadent Red + Vintage Violet / $98 / Here
Miller Motorcycle Boots
God help me, I love my boots. I’ve had my J. Crew pony brown riding boots for almost two years now and I’d bet that, fall through spring, I wear them at least five days out of the week. I’d wear them more, but, you know, people notice. They’re wearing out just a little and I need to keep them treated, but I still love them. That said, it’d be nice if they could get a break once in a while. And while they’re gorgeous, traditional classics, these boots bring some edge. Let’s face it, my motorcycle jacket is one of my favorite things and these boots would go right along. The riding ones would still be the work friendly choice, but these bad boys could go to class, go shopping, and go out dammit! I promise I won’t ask for a motorcycle next.
Extended Calf 8 Medium / Black (duh doi!) / $325 / Here
Mona Leather Pumps
Oh mona. I love you. I hate how no one besides J. Crew seems able to produce the right height of heel in bright colors that make work fun and play even more fun. I’d wear them with everything because, how could you not?
8 Medium / Pale Peacock + Brick Red / $198 / Here
Mona Leather Pumps
Okay, Mona, that’s not even fair. I can’t even…these don’t need an explanation, do they?
8 Medium / Warm Ivory / $238 / Here
MODCLOTH
Leisurely Drive Glovelettes

You may call them impractical, I call them I love them and you can use a touchscreen phone with them.
S/M / $50 / Here
